General Rules;;

» On Out-There, we worked hard to make this site as perfect as we could get it. Sure, it has its kinks, but overall, it's a pretty good site. Please respect it as if it were your own. Please respect the other members, as well as staff members. We'd like it if you listen to us. We're only being "mean" if we think that you broke the rules. If you didn't just be honest with us and we won't punish you!

» Please don't spam. We worked hard on this site and spamming can ruin it. Spamming is when you post random things all over the board. Sometimes they aren't offensive, abusive, sexual and other inappropriate things, but I won't give you a warning if you spam this site. Your IP adress, E-mail Address, and username will be banned. I've been spammed before and I highly disliked it.

» Please don't cuss. All it does to you is makes you look bad and others will look down on you. There is no racism, harassment, or sexual comments of any kind allowed on Off the Chains. If I or another staff member sees any thing of this kind I will ban you from Off the Chains and the C-Box.

» Advertising isn't allowed anywhere but the Caught on a Chain board. If we find that someone advertised in the C-box, or another board besides the advertising board, their post/s will be deleted and we'll punish you how we see fit.

Account Rules;;

» Now, I don't mean to sound rude, but please don't make an account and never post ever again. We are looking for active members here at Off the Chains. If you think you won't be able to make it on every single day, or once every two days, then contact me or Azure so we can make sure we don't delete your account.

» Please don't use screen names for your display name. It's confusing for new members, and even for old members. What we're talking about are names like puppypal123. How about you use a display name that is your favorite dog's name. My first dog was Duke, and that's my Display name! Please leave them as one word. We may take two0three words depending on how long the words are. Refrain from using too many capital letters, symbols and all that cool jazz. Also make sure your name isn't the name of a different character.

» Unlimited Character Amount. This may or may not change. As of right now, you may have as many characters as you can handle. If you can't remember all your characters off your head, you have too many.

» One Character at a Time. Please don't start three biographies. Make biographies one at a time. You can make one character, and then move on. It keeps you organized, and it helps us staff members as we're accepting biographies.

» Only one account per person. Please don't go off and make millions of accounts. You have an unlimited character amount. I don't think you'll be needing another account any time soon.

» Please post in the away board located in the auditorium if you're going somewhere and you can't have any access to your computer. It's a win-win deal. The staff knows that you won't be on, therefore your account doesn't get deleted.

» No inappropriate avatars or signatures, or even inappropriate links to different, inappropriate sites. We also forbid images or signatures that stretch the page. We reserve the right to go into your profile and remove anything. We will take immediate action if any of this is seen and you'll receive a warning PM, and whatever consequences.

Character Rules;;

» Please look at the banned breeds list before you create a character, as well as the "taken names" list. Please check both constantly because they're always being changed.

» Only Canines may be created on Off the Chains. Wolf-dogs are fine, but please no dingos, hyenas, African wild dogs... You may not have a mystical creature because they are forbidden on this site. Your characters also can not have wings, horns or anything like that. This site is a realistic street dog role-play. We don't take special canines. You can't talk about chemical "mutations". They are also banned from Off the Chains.

» Please don't make your characters ever-so-powerful. On Off the Chains, we don't take too perfect characters. All beings have flaws. I have millions, so your character should have at least five. We also don't do 90 million pound dogs or gigantic chihuahuas, or even 100 miles per-hour running huskies.

» Please keep the variety going for dog breeds. Please don't make a Labrador if you see that there's millions of them. We would rather you make a beagle, or even an Otter hound instead!

» I'd like to remind you that character logs are not mandatory, but they are recommended. They keep the staff organized, and even you organized. It also comes in handy when you want to role-play with someone, and they want to pick which character they want you to role-play with. I've also found it helps you keep active.

» Your dog can't be pregnant unless the father is on the site, and is an active member. I used to allow pregnant dogs in biographies, but now that rule has a big slash through it. People abused the privilege, making this rule go into play. Sorry guys, but that's the rule.

» Please check the puppy auditions, or even the adoption center before you create your own canine. There's usually some cute puppies there and they're dying to be role-played.

In Character;;

» Make sure you have appropriate posts. Nobody wants to see graphic posting and/or anything related to extreme inappropriate things. This can include sex, rape, killing or other extremely inappropriate things. I don't think it would be respectful to mention pervert or anything else.

» Each post must be a minimum of 200 words. Be as descriptive and creative as possible. The only times I don't want you to be absolutely descriptive is when you are breeding!!

» Don't power-play. This means you are playing a character that isn't yours and it is usually to your benefit. Even if it isn't to your benefit, don't do it. Most people don't like it when their character did something they never wanted them to do.

» No Flaming. This means that you are fighting in the OOC over something that could or couldn't be pointless, but it is childish fighting. If you need help solving a problem, go to a staff member. It is your best bet of getting the problem solved without anybody getting hurt.

» Don't Double-post. This means that you can't post two in or more in a row. If something needs to be added then use the handy Edit tool! If it had been a few days and nobody answered then you may have one exception. If its a pointless post that doesn't really say people can join, then just delete it.

» No God-moding. Nobody likes an extremely perfect dog. This means that your dog can't be flawless and the hero, doing everything that no other dog can do. This is just selfish and it doesn't make any other role-players happy. The staff can and will destroy that character if it is necessary!

» No speeding up time just so your character can do this or do that. You must wait like everyone else does! Go with the seasons. If it is winter, don't say it is 100 degrees. It's confusing and your post probably won't be answered.

» No Meta-Gaming. This is when your character knows something about another character when the role-player/character hasn't even told your character yet. It's not right to know someone's name if they haven't even introduced themselves. It makes sense that a dog knows an important dog's name, like a gang leader, but everyone else is complete strangers!

» Liquid time is permitted! Your character can be in a maximum of five threads at one time. Once the thread goes to the thread heave, it is considered inactive and you may put the character in another thread.

» Members are allowed to swear in character, but not excessively! This rule is mostly applied to the not so friendly characters that are in Off the Chains.

» Please say something if a thread is private. An unmarked thread usually means 'Come on in!' to some members.

» We don't mind post headers as long as they're appropriate.

Breeding Rules;;

» There is no specific breeding 'season' but you may want to know that if you breed in spring or summer your puppies result in being healthier and have a higher chance of surviving.

» Both members must agree that they want to make before they start the thread.

» Both Characters must be over two years old to breed.

» Please have a realistic match. Please no chihuahua and a mastiff. For one, that would be hard for the chihuahua, and two, it's just plain weird! Please keep to the same size range. I'm okay with a German Shepherd with a Golden Retriever. Try a chihuahua and a corgi if you must. Not a mastiff :].

» Females can give birth whenever, but like I said before. If your female became pregnant in winter, her puppies probably won't be strong and have a higher risk of having health problems, or even dying!

» No Graphic Breeding unless you ask a staff member. If you get permission you must but [M] thread title. If you didn't get permission, Not going to happen! Please just black it out, or skip it.

» Litters vary for certain levels of dogs. Small dogs may only have a maximum of five puppies, while larger dogs can have up to fourteen in a well-maintained home. Since the dogs are in the wild, I would say that small dogs should only be allowed four puppies, medium-sized dogs are able to have six puppies, and large dogs may have nine puppies.

Battling Rules;;

» Please PM me where and when the fight is taking place and make sure the two dogs that are fighting know about it. I'd also like the link if possible. I'm going to be the referee for the fights, unless the fight involves me and then Azure will probably take over.

» In the end, I, or the staff member judging, will decide how deep, and/or fatal your wounds are. I will also figure out who wins the fight unless it is agains me and another dogs (as I said before.)

» When you're fighting you get four posts per player. Three are attacks/dodges while the first one is an introduction for the two dogs that are fighting.

» If there's more than two dogs fighting each other, you must make sure the teams are fair. It has to be 1x1, 2x2, or 3x3. It's not fair to have 3x1 unless it is a tresspasser on a pack homeland territory.

» The fights can be about anything you want. A mate, a piece of food, pack rivalries, for leadership, or even for fun!

» I, or another staff member that is judging the fight will announce the winner at the end of the post, give my congrats, and suggestions and then the post is done. Please leave the rivalries against your dogs out of the OOC areas.

» No dogs can die in battle unless you want him/her to.

Gang Rules;;

» You must be two years old in order to be a gang leader.

» There are no breed restrictions, or gender restrictions to lead a gang. A female may lead the gang if they so desire and they win a fight over the last leader. A chihuahua can lead a gang, as long as they defeat the last leader in battle.

» You are only safe from being killed for a role-playing year, after that, your dog is up for grabs and be challenged two times per role-playing year. If your character survives both challenges, he is rewarded another role-playing year of safety.

» You may claim pack territory if you are over three years old. You will be granted one week safety over your pack lands and then it isn't safe anymore. To get the territory of another pack, you must challenge one of the gang members and then I will decide whether or not you get it, or if the gang gets to keep their territory.

» The rules for certain packs depend on the gang leaders. The Nadav Gang will have differing rules from the Embrys Gang.
